Congratulations on choosing one of the most trusted hardware wallets in the crypto industry. This guide will walk you through the safe and proper setup of your new Trezor Model T or Trezor One.
What You’ll Need
- Your Trezor hardware wallet (Model T or One)
- A computer with USB port
- Internet connection
- Paper and pen (for recovery seed)
Step 1: Visit the Official Trezor Start Page
Navigate to:
- Choose your device model
- Download and install Trezor Suite
- Follow the on-screen instructions

Step 2: Install Trezor Suite
Trezor Suite is the official desktop application used to manage your wallet. It offers full device integration, coin management, transaction history, and more.
- Available for Windows, macOS, Linux
- Also accessible via browser (with Trezor Bridge)

Step 3: Connect Your Device
Now, connect your Trezor via USB to your computer.
- Wait for Trezor Suite to detect your device
- If prompted, install firmware (only from official Suite)
- Do NOT disconnect during firmware installation
Step 4: Create a New Wallet
Choose Create New Wallet when prompted. This will generate a brand-new wallet using cryptographic randomness.
You’ll now be shown a 12 or 24-word Recovery Seed on the device screen.
Step 5: Set a PIN
Next, you’ll be prompted to choose a PIN. This prevents unauthorized physical access to your Trezor.
- Use a unique 4–9 digit code
- PIN entry is randomized visually (numbers are scrambled)
- If someone enters the wrong PIN too many times, access is temporarily locked
Step 6: Access the Wallet Dashboard
Once your wallet is created and PIN secured, you’ll be directed to the Trezor dashboard.
- View balances and recent transactions
- Enable/disable specific coins
- Access your receiving addresses
You are now ready to send, receive, and manage cryptocurrencies securely.

- Keep your recovery seed offline and protected
- Never enter your seed into a website or computer
- Use passphrase protection for advanced security
- Verify all transaction details on your Trezor screen
- Update firmware only through Trezor Suite
Using Trezor with Web Apps
Trezor works with many DeFi and Web3 applications via WebUSB or Trezor Bridge.
Supported platforms include:
- MetaMask (via Trezor integration)
- Uniswap, Aave, OpenSea
- Electrum, Exodus, and others
